Order, The (2001)

IMDB rating: 4.10

Plot: In the year 1099, during the Crusades in the 11th Century, Christian soldiers arrive in Jerusalem and slaughter the local population. Christian soldier Charles Le Vaillant becomes demoralized by the horrors of war and decides to create a new religious order. This new order brings together, in a peaceful manner, members from the three religions of the region: Christians, Jews, and Muslims. As a self-imposed leader and messiah, Charles writes the sacred texts of the Order. The Christian Crusaders accuse Charles of heresy, and attack him and his disciples. During the attack, the last chapter from the sacred texts becomes lost in the desert. Now, in modern-day Israel, a devout contingent of Le Vaillant’s followers continues to practice his peaceful teachings. But a disciple named Cyrus has a distorted view of the Order’s peaceful intention. Rudy Cafmeyer is a thief and smuggler of valuable historical artifacts. Rudy manages to break into a high security building where he steals a Faberge Egg, the kind decorated with precious stones and manufactured expressly for the Russian Tsars. Needless to say, the alarm goes off, and Rudy has to fight his way out of the building. Despite this theft, Rudy is not really a bad guy. He stole the egg from the personal collection of a powerful Russian mafia boss. Rudy is a loving son who would do anything for his father Oscar “Ozzie” Cafmeyer. Ozzie, an archaeologist and museum curator, discovers the manuscripts that were lost during the crusades. The manuscripts clearly extol interfaith harmony. In those manuscripts, there is also an ancient map of Jerusalem, which shows the location of a mythical Jewish treasure. Ozzie travels to Israel, where Cyrus has him kidnapped. Rudy, who heard the kidnapping take place while talking to Ozzie on the phone, travels to Jerusalem to rescue Oscar. Oscar’s associate, Professor Walt Finley, hands Rudy the key to a safe-deposit box in East Jerusalem before being gunned down by unknown assailants. Israeli Police Chief Ben Ner views Rudy’s arrival with hostility and takes steps to have Rudy deported, but police lieutenant Dalia Barr risks her life and career to help Rudy — she was once a disciple of the Order, but she left when she was 18-years-old. Cyrus uses a car bomb to assassinate the Order’s leader, Pierre Gaudet, and Cyrus steps up his own rhetoric, hoping to inflame his followers. Rudy opens the safe-deposit box and finds a map that shows a series of tunnels and a treasure room beneath Jerusalem. Ben Ner, who has partnered with Cyrus, covets the gold that the underground tunnels lead to, but Cyrus hopes to plant a bomb during Ramadan that will turn the Israelis against the Palestinians. Dalia and Rudy must get to the Order’s monastery, free Ozzie, and prevent an explosion that could push tensions in the area way past the boiling point.

Do you know the history behind the writing of the old testament ?
THE ORIGIN OF THE BIBLE.

A few wandering families — poor, wretched, without education, art or power; descendants of those who had been enslaved for four hundred years; ignorant as the inhabitants of Central Africa, had just escaped from their masters to the desert of Sinai. Their leader was Moses, a man who had been raised in the family of Pharaoh and had been taught the law and mythology of Egypt. For the purpose of controlling his followers he pretended that he was instructed and assisted by Jehovah, the God of these wanderers.

Everything that happened was attributed to the interference of this God. Moses declared that he met this God face to face; that on Sinai’s top from the hands of this God he had received the tables of stone on which, by the finger of this God, the Ten Commandments had been written, and that, in addition to this, Jehovah had made known the sacrifices and ceremonies that were pleasing to him and the laws by which the people should be governed.

In this way the Jewish religion and the Mosaic Code were established.

It is now claimed that this religion and these laws were and are revealed and established for all mankind.

At that time these wanderers had no commerce with other nations, they had no written language, they could neither read nor write. They had no means by which they could make this revelation known to other nations, and so it remained buried in the jargon of a few ignorant, impoverished and unknown tribes for more than two thousand year’s.

Many centuries after Moses, the leader, was dead many centuries after all his followers had passed away — the Pentateuch was written, the work of many writers, and to give it force and authority it was claimed that Moses was the author.

We now know that the Pentateuch was not written by Moses.

Towns are mentioned that were not in existence when Moses lived.

Money, not coined until centuries after his death, is mentioned.

So, many of the laws were not applicable to wanderers on the desert — laws about agriculture, about the sacrifice of oxen, sheep and doves, about the weaving of cloth, about ornaments of gold and silver, about the cultivation of land, about harvest, about the threshing of grain, about houses and temples, about cities of refuge, and about many other subjects of no possible application to a few starving wanderers over the sands and rocks.

It is now not only admitted by intelligent and honest theologians that Moses was not the author of the Pentateuch, but they all admit that no one knows who the authors were, or who wrote any one of these books, or a chapter or a line. We know that the books were not written in the same generation; that they were not all written by one person; that they are filled with mistakes and contradictions. It is also admitted that Joshua did not write the book that bears his name, because it refers to events that did not happen until long after his death.

No one knows, or pretends to know, the author of Judges; all we know is that it was written centuries after all the judges had ceased to exist. No one knows the author of Ruth, nor of First and Second Samuel; all we know is that Samuel did not write the books that bear his name. In the 25th chapter of First Samuel is an account of the raising of Samuel by the Witch of Endor.

No one knows the author of First and Second Kings or First and Second Chronicles; all we know is that these books are of no value.

We know that the Psalms were not written by David. In the Psalms the Captivity is spoken of, and that did not happen until about five hundred years after David slept with his fathers.

We know that Solomon did not write the Proverbs or the Song; that Isaiah was not the author of the book that bears his name; that no one knows the author of Job, Ecclesiastes, or Esther, or of any book in the Old Testament, with the exception of Ezra.

We know that God is not mentioned or in any way referred to in the book of Esther. We know, too, that the book is cruel, absurd and impossible.

God is not mentioned in the Song of Solomon, the best book in the Old Testament.

And we know that Ecclesiastes was written by an unbeliever.

We know, too, that the Jews themselves had not decided as to what books were inspired — were authentic — until the second century after Christ.

Well that about wraps that myth up ,not much point in arguing about it now unless of course you are missing several parts of the essential organs in man/

Well, there is a huge problem right off the bat with the first sentence so I didnt bother to read the rest, it’s probably as inaccurate as the first.

"poor, wretched, without education, art or power"

No, they were not poor. They had been given the gold, jewels, and other things of wealth of the Egyptians before they left.

Wretched, ok maybe? As in undergoing trauma and fleeing to a better place.

Without education: No. The Jews could read quite well. Both Hebrew and Egyptian.

Without Art: No. Hebrew culture from back then is still to be found, you can see some beautiful artwork found on pottery, walls, etc, that the Hebrews created.

Without power: No, not without power. If they were without power they wouldnt have been able to get up and leave, nor would they have been able to move through the lands they were going to, and overcome those who tried to kill them, nor would they have been able to conquer the land of Canaan if they had been without power.

As for the rest, I’ve just glanced up and seen the last few sentences, and they are as moronic and inaccurate as the first.
Rivky | Feb 03, 2010

Um, just a few problems with that…
Starting with the fact that jews/hebrews were never slaves in Egypt, and "moses" probably never existed.
But you make some good points anyway.

Peace.

What was Frankenstein's creature made from?
In Mary Shelley’s book "Frankenstein" she discusses how Victor gathered together various parts to make his creature, but when he destroyed the female he mentions how he felt he was doing horrible things to the human flesh. Was the original (male) creature not made entirely from human parts?

No, the male was made completely from human body parts. Frankenstein refers to scrounging for them, which back then mainly meant graverobbing.

I think the comment about doing horrible things to the human flesh was when he finally realized that he was doing "unnatural" things, meaning appropriating the right to create life from dead parts. It wasn’t that he had done anything radically different, it’s just that he realized, too late, that he was doing something he shouldn’t have been doing. The natural order of human flesh is to be born, to live, to age, to die, and then decompose. Being re-animated isn’t on the list ;)

Do you think this girl likes me?
ok. so here it goes.

there is this one girl who sits behind me in cooking class and I keep getting mixed signals from here. Once when we were cooking brownies, she took a spatula and stuck it up my butt. I was like okayyyyyy. You want some of this? and she started laughing at me….

The next day she threw up tapioca pudding on my new sweater vest, and I she said the vomit really matched my eyes.

So I am like… come on.. you gonna try and get this or what? she laughed it off again.. and now she always sticks a spoon up my butt every day..

Should I make a move or something?? or should I stick a spoon up her butt as well.

Okay you both are just really gross. I was so grossed out reading this. I don’t if she likes you or not. I mean really would you like someone who threw up on you? That’s nasty I’d be grossed out.

First, why would you like a girl who shoves spatulas up your butt? Thats just wrong. Find another girl and NEVER talk to her ever again…EVER! And she might like you or she just has issues (not because of you), so good luck with her. And maybe switch out of cooking class. Ha.

People should watch it. PROGRESSIVES ARE ALIVE AND WELL IN THIS COUNTRY and are trying to take it over.

It is a SHAME they want to rewrite the history books and take out all our history and start at 1870. Just so the kids could have a CONNECTION with history.

What connection when you don’t know the start of this country and slavery and other important things that make AMERICA what it is. It is THIS TYPE OF PROGRESSIVE THINKING that will allow this video to be true. When you can’t learn from history…YOU WILL REPEAT IT!

When you take out the history of the U.S and put in OPRAH and the brainwashing of PROGRESSIVE LIBERAL TEACHERS….you are lost.

I am sickened by this change….and they continue to do small things like this to change AMERICA and indoctrinate the children before you understand where it came from.

I am proud to know others can see things that are happening and bring it to our attention.

You can choose to be a koolaide drinker and hide your head in the sand or look at the bigger picture and realize….things are happening that are in the background…subtle things like rewriting history books and stopping the learning of writing in school etc….that will contribute to the bigger picture.

TEACH OUR CHILDREN THE TRUTH ABOUT HISTORY…ALL OF OUR HISTORY! Good God….EUROPE learns about their history…THOUSANDS OF YEARS OLD and we can’t teach our children about a couple hundred years?

PROGRESSIVES are taking over and we are allowing it to happen. Beck is bringing the truth out…and you can scoff at it if you want…but he didn’t make up THAT VIDEO..it came from AMERICANS and it came from this administration!

People will pick at one word such as socialist etc and pick it to death and not see the whole picture….like this administration they continue to deny….and they continue to try to push us to be like EUROPE. WE ARE NOT LIKE EUROPE…we never wanted to be like them. WE ARE WHO WE ARE and we are proud of it.

Pay attention people…don’t let them get their toe in the door…they will not leave!

People will refuse to see what this means…just what it says…but dems and libbies are famous for not seeing and hearing what is going on. No matter how many times you tell them….they pick on something and try to change it. LISTENING is more than hearing words..it is UNDERSTANDING THE MESSAGE! Something dems cannot do.

The Apostle | Feb 09, 2010

Mark 12:28-34 (New International Version)

28One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, "Of all the commandments, which is the most important?"
29"The most important one," answered Jesus, "is this: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one.[a] 30Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’[b] 31The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[c]There is no commandment greater than these."

32"Well said, teacher," the man replied. "You are right in saying that God is one and there is no other but him. 33To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices."

34When Jesus saw that he had answered wisely, he said to him, "You are not far from the kingdom of God." And from then on no one dared ask him any more questions.

Genesis 22:17,18 (King James Version) " That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies; (18) And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thy hast obeyed my voice.

Here it is in a Modern translation the way we speak today (NW).
"I shall surely bless you and I shall surely multiply your seed like the stars of the heavens and like the grains of sand that are on the seashore; and your seed will take possession of the gate of his enemies. (18) And by means of your seed all nations of the earth will certainly bless themselves due to the fact that you have listen to my voice.

Why do people hate people who are anerexic?
first of all i am NOT anerexic. i come from a mom who is a naturally really tiny asian lady who’s 5 feet tall, and my dad’s side of the family were all pretty skinny. i’m 14 years old, a freshman in highschool, and i weigh 68 pounds. i’ve had people say, "oh your frickin’ anerexic ya sicko" and i’m frickin’ NOT anerexic and i eat a LOT of foods that have a lot of caleries and i’ve tried really hard to gain weight but i’m naturally skinny. a lot of ppl have made fun of me and cussed at me ’cause i’m skinny ’cause they think i’m anerexic or something. even if i was, why would they do that? lol i’m just wondering, because anerexia is a MENTAL thing. these girls who are bone thin on the verge of dying they look in the mirror and they think they are fat and can’t help it. and people hate them even though they can’t really help it by themselves. we learned about it in PE the other day and i dunno but i think it’s kinda weird that people hate them when they can’t help it and it’s a problem. u don’t just walk up to someon and say "hey u! stop being autistic u bi***!!!" and yet they say that to anerexic ppl. i’m not saying that i have anything against people who are plus size or anything because there are tons of women who are super pretty who are plus size, and i don’t think that being skinny is the only way to be beautiful. i’m just wondering why so many ppl hate anerexic ppl when it’s a mental thing…

Well in my opinion I think people dont really hate anerexic people they just are teasing them. Or they just think its wierd for others to be anerexic. My friend is really skinny and i just tease him of being anerexic and so do others…. (but really 68 pounds is realllly small)

I know! People are always so mean to them and they can’t help that their brains work that way. It’s so sad to see beautiful girls kill themselves. but instead of hating on them, help them.

Most people are haters – esp in high school. People will put others down to feed their own egos. Don’t help feed their egos by feeling bad about yourself. You know if you have a problem and to me it sounds like you don’t – so the best approach is to feel sorry for those ignorant fools and realize they have more problems than you.

Well I’d say it’s all in the head, people with Anorexia have a fear of gaining weight and the others regard this as a stupid behaviour. The sight of a normal thin bony person probably makes them believe the person is anorexic and a worthy recipient of their insults. So I’d say just shrug it off and don’t let it bother you :)
